 Project Outline

Long O Donnell (LOD) were appointed by Egerton Sports Academy to provide Project Management, Commercial Management, Advance Intrusive Investigative Works, and Employer’s Agent Services from feasibility through procurement and construction to handover (RIBA Stage 0 to Stage 7) including Principal Contractor services for the coordination and successful expansion of the sports academy’s facilities, including the following projects:

New Build
Design and build of a new sports facility comprising a 1000sqm double storey traditional building.

Artificial Football Pitch
New 3G artificial pitch, floodlighting, electrical infrastructure, and parent/ spectator covered accommodation plus infrastructure expansions involving utility diversions, car parking, drainage, pedestrian walkways, and a new access road.

Pitch Side Expansion
New spectator stand, team dug outs, and extensive paving

Building Refurbishment
Refurbishment of sports hall, gym, café, and offices. Demolition works involving the removal of asbestos.

Key Challenge
Given the location of the new facility and the frequency of the existing facilities which was still in use, also located on the same site, it was decided that the site had to remain operational throughout, ensuring minimum disruption was caused to their users. As such, we ensured that those working on the development had the necessary experience of working on live operational sites, ensuring the facility could be accessed by over 500 members throughout the duration of the works.

Benefits/Successes
LOD completed the design and construction of each element of the works within budget and on time, including all of the additional mechanical and electrical works and site infrastructure with little or no disruption to the existing facilities users
