Uisce Éireann (Irish Water) Domestic Metering project

 Project Outline

Uisce Éireann (formally Irish Water) Domestic Metering project consisted of the installation, by two main works contractors of over one million new water meters within domestic properties across eight national regions at a rate of 27,000 meters per month. This project was implemented to ensure nationwide water service assessments by installing meters with a remote data collection capability.

Long O Donnell (LOD) supported this smart metering project through the planning and consenting process (involving all the local authorities in Ireland) as well as coordinate the roll-out of this programme across the whole country. The project involved two main works contractors, extensive highway works, pavement reconstruction, and infrastructure works.

LOD has applied its expert project management skills and unique method of data analysis, to identify areas of commercial concern, while drawing upon its experience of auditing billions of pounds of costs throughout the construction stage to ensure all works remained on budget. LOD also drew upon its in-depth understanding of the construction industry, construction law and their common abuses.
