Hastings Local 132/11kv substation
The contract required Project Services to include CDM Coordination on EDF HV networks including infrastructure, rail and airport projects.
- Replace 2 30MVA grid transformers GT2A & GT1B with new 20/30/40MVA transformer units at Hastings local. The project will be undertaken in two stages the first being replacement of GT2A/ancillary equipment & stage two replacement of GT1B/ancillary equipment. The project incorporates replacement of oil bundings & drainage works.
The following are within the scope of this project:
- Carry out site surveys and design (outline and detailed) to integrate the new transformers with the existing site and identify further requirements, specifically:
- Oil contamination surveys in the transformer bays
- Earthing survey for the site
- Decommissioning and removal of existing GT1B and GT2A
- Civil work associated with transformer bunding and plinth modifications to provide sufficient support and oil containment area
- Upgrading of site lighting in work areas
- Installation and commissioning of new GT1B and GT2A
- Removal of existing isolators 113B and 213A including supports
- Installation of bases and supports for new motorised isolators 113B and 213A and integration into site systems.
- Replacement of associated equipment and bus-bars where shown to be necessary.
- Control, protection and communication modifications associated with works, both on site and at Hastings Main
- Renovation of kitchen and toilet facilities to meet CDM requirements
- Improvements in site security (as specified by Company Security)
- Commission all new and modified plant and equipment
- Update all technical and H&S drawings and records within EDF Energy Networks filing systems
Long O Donnell Associates was awarded the EDF Energy CDM Coordination services framework contract for a period of up to 5 years commencing in October 2008.
