In line with our continued success and growth, we are looking to recruit an additional Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager with gas / pipeline / energy experience to join our team.

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor / Managing Quantity Surveyor to lead and deliver a portfolio of projects and frameworks within the energy sector for our expanding client base across the UK.

Location: This role could be based out of the following locations in line with your own location – Northwich, Northampton or Scotland (to based within the central belt of Scotland i.e. Edinburgh/Glasgow areas).

Please note, this role will involve travel to sites across the UK as required so applicants must have a full UK driving licence and access to own transport.

The Role.

Working as a Managing Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager, you will take on a hands-on position within the team delivering quantity surveying services for our clients on a variety of pipeline projects, in addition to managing a team and developing work within the client frameworks that you are responsible for.

As a Managing Quantity Surveyor your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing Senior Quantity Surveying services to our end clients. This will include working across the full project lifecycle from preparing ITT documentation and attending the evaluation meetings through to managing and administering terms and conditions of contract and final accounts / dispute resolution.
  • Managing the framework agreements in place with clients and developing strong relationships with individuals within the business. You will be our client’s point of contact if they have issues or queries in in relation to the agreements and you will also work with the clients to explore new opportunities and develop the work we are already completing for them as appropriate.
  • Managing a multi-disciplined team. This will include interview and selection, appraisals, work distribution and management, approval of timesheets, training and supporting juniors etc.
  • Attending monthly management meetings to coordinate and liaise on framework matters.
  • Providing support to tender proposals when required.

The Candidate.

To be considered for this role as a Managing Quantity Surveyor, you will have:

  • A strong, demonstrable background of successfully delivering quantity surveying services in a Senior/Managing QS capacity on client projects within the Oil and Gas / Energy / Nuclear / Infrastructure / Water / Utilities or similar sectors.
  • A solid background of contract management and administration (ideally working with NEC3 but other forms of contract such as FIDIC and bespoke will also be considered);
  • A full UK driving licence and access to transport as required.
  • The ability to successfully work in a fast paced environment and to effectively prioritise and reprioritise your workloads as required.
  • A degree/HNC or equivalent in a relevant field i.e. Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Project Management, Engineering etc. is highly beneficial.
  • Previous experience of managing/leading a team of multi-disciplined personnel is highly beneficial.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
