Long O Donnell are currently recruiting for an experienced Business Development Manager to help drive the growth and development of our service provision within our Energy and Infrastructure Divisions (energy / utilities / oil / gas / water / nuclear / infrastructure / road / rail / civil engineering / mechanical engineering / construction etc.)

As the Business Development Manager you will:

  • Increase revenue generation by developing new customers and adding to our existing customer base through the successful delivery of bids / tenders.
  • Take a hands-on approach to the completion and delivery of tenders/bids.
  • Maintain and develop the commercial activities associated with new service delivery management contracts.
  • Complete staff management activities for all personnel within the team (including appraisals and personal development/growth plans).
  • Maintain the technical and non-technical expertise of the department through team development/coaching/training activities.
  • Be an active member of the Senior Management Team supporting the overall business budgetary process managing costs in line with the agreed budget or revised forecast, identifying areas for growth and development, assisting with the implementation of process/procedural change, new initiatives etc.  through the proactive management of your team.
  • Produce timely management reports on the performance of the department.
  • Understand our business, the services we offer and the frameworks we have in place across our customer base.
  • Manage re-contract negotiation and administration.
  • Chair customer reviews on service performance.
  • Comply with the organisation’s QA and HSE systems and support required updates as the business develops.
  • Interface with the Senior Management team to manage the business resource requirements.
  • Attend internal and external meeting as required.
  • Complete and champion continuous professional development both for yourself and for your team.

To be considered for this role as Business Development Manager you will have:

  • Demonstrable experience of delivering successful bids/tenders ideally within one of more of the following sectors energy / utilities / oil / gas / water / nuclear / infrastructure / road / rail / civil engineering / mechanical engineering / construction.
  • Previous experience of taking a lead role within a team.
  • Knowledge/experience of the construction industry.
  • Ability to prioritise and reprioritise your time and team focus’ as required in line with changing deadlines/priorities.
  • A degree (or equivalent) in a relevant subject Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Project Management, Engineering, Business Management, English Literature/Language or similar would be highly beneficial.
  • Strong computer literacy skills (Microsoft Office Suite).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.

Location: Northwich or Northampton with travel as required.

Salary: £50,000 - £58,000 per annum (depending on experience) + car allowance + uncapped performance related pay + healthcare.
