Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is an approach adopted in order to mitigate global warming by capturing Carbon Dioxide (CO2) from large emitters, such as coal and gas fired power stations, and storing it instead of releasing it into the atmosphere. Storage of the CO2 is envisaged in a variety of sequestration sites including deep geological formations and depleted offshore oil or gas fields.

One important element that is required under CCS is a means of transporting the CO2 between the emitter/capture plant and the storage location. National Grid has been considering its options for developing CO2 transportation services and pipeline networks to support CCS schemes.

Project Services support is required to cover the full project life cycle,  areas of work required may include, the development, design of new Capital Investment schemes for Pipelines, Compressors Stations, Pumping Stations, Landfall Sites and Above Ground Installations (AGIs) that generally operate with CO2 pipelines and/or CCS schemes and/or maintenance activities associated with these.

Project services support will be required to cover all works associated with the development of the design phase for individual schemes through to construction and commissioning of new capital investment works, modifications to existing pipelines and plant, specialist engineering studies, maintenance works and the development of tender documentation for competitive tendering purposes.

Long O Donnell Associates have been appointed onto the National Grid Project Services Framework  for above and below £100k plus carbon capture throughout UK including project management, contract management, H, S&E and Engineering Services.
