Marchwood Power Station

« Back to the Portfolio

Marchwood Power operates a £380million natural gas-fired combined cycle CCGT power station on Marchwood Industrial Park, adjacent to the River Test near Southampton.

Marchwood Power Station began generating electricity in December 2009 and was officially opened the following month. The station generates 842MW of electricity for the national grid, enough to supply nearly one million homes. This is equivalent to the needs of Southampton, the New Forest and Winchester combined.

The facility uses the latest technology to ensure maximum energy efficiency and minimal impact on the environment. It is currently one of the most efficient power stations in the UK. Impacts on the environment and nearby communities are strictly controlled.

From 2007 to 2009 Long O Donnell Associates provided a QA/QC inspection team and contract management to support the design and construction of the 800megawatt CCGT power station, including contract strategy, procurement, tender evaluation and contract administration covering all aspects between project conception and completion alongside the onsite inspections resources.
