The Gaswest Project, a €40 million, three-year development project for the West of Ireland, ensuring natural gas was made available to eleven towns along the Mayo-Galway Transmission Pipeline.

Representatives of Bord Gáis Networks met with Mayo County Council to finalise the first phase of the construction programme for the Gaswest Project, from Castlebar and Westport.  The provision of 200km of the new gas mains across Southern Ireland, initially connected a total of 11 towns in all that did not have mains gas to the transmission network.

Long O Donnell Associates provided programme management with the initial strategy and team set-up, providing support and procurement assistance included managing the OJEU procurement process and evaluating the expressions of interest from a commercial and technical view point.

After setting the award criteria Long O Donnell Associates managed the tender process through to contract award and contract administration.

Our engineering teams then ensured that all construction works were completed correctly and in accordance with the agreed completion dates for the following:

  • Westport/Castlebar
  • Craughwell/Headford
  • Ballina Crossmillina Clairemorris
  • Monesterein, Co Laois
  • Ballinrobe
  • Gort & Loughrea, Co Galway
  • Cashel & Cahir Distribution & Feeder Mains
